So what exactly is a normal skin type?! Normal skin in a nutshell is when you don’t see any problems on your skin. Does your skin feel equally normal in all areas (so not oily or dry)? And any oiliness or dryness you may experience is easily fixed? You are lucky enough to not have enlarged pores, and minimal fine lines and wrinkles? Your skin tone is even without any pigmentation or brown marks/spots on your face? If you are saying “yes, yes, yes!” welcome to Day 3 and a normal skin type!
Does this sound like you – some parts of your face are dry or flaky, while the t-zone is oily? Or do you have breakouts as well as dry skin or possibly rosacea at the same time? Well welcome to Day 2 of how to care for a combination skin type!
So here it goes, Day 1 and we are starting with an oily skin type.
Now this is my category and it can be annoying at the end of the day when all you want to look is effortlessly airbrushed but instead you look like an oil slick. Well I have excellent news for all my fellow oily ladies out there – being oily can be a great thing! Being oily does mean that the skin is not dry, therefore we will most likely have less wrinkles as we get older. The drier the skin the more fine lines and wrinkles start to appear. Ok, I’m hearing you, enough said and let’s get to the tips!
After working in the beauty industry for a few months I have had the advantage of being able to test the best of the best, and quickly learn about some must-have products and great tips that I’d like to share with you all. Over the next four days I am going to give you hints and tips on products to use that are relevant to your skin type, filling you in on the beauty essentials you need right now!
Tomorrow is Day 1 and I’ll be looking at the oily skin type which is my category. For my fellow oily skin ladies I have good news for you about being oily, so make sure you visit tomorrow to get the insider tips!
To start things off I am going to offer my number one tip for ALL skin types. Now this is an absolute must-do which may seem obvious but not to all. You must MUST cleanse and moisturise your skin morning and night. Yes, even if you haven’t worn makeup that day. I never NEVER go to bed with a face full of makeup. This is my number one rule and tip that I strongly encourage you all to take on, regardless of whether you have normal, oily, dry or combination skin.
Well I’m off to cleanse my face and I’ll speak to you all tomorrow!
Well technically it’s not my snack because I didn’t come up with the recipe but I do want to share it with you all! One of my girlfriends first introduced me to this super easy and very tasty recipe which could be eaten as a snack or dessert. This is also my first experience using chia seeds and I was not disappointed. If anyone has eaten sago it is a similar texture in this recipe. The great thing about chia seeds is they are a superfood with actual proven health benefits. Chia seeds have a massive amount of nutrients with very few calories, they are loaded with antioxidants, high in omega-3 fatty acids, can improve exercise performance as much as a sports drink, are very low in carbs………and the list goes on!!! There are far too many reasons why you should be incorporating chia seeds into your diet and here is an easy way to begin. Let me know if you try it and love it!
1/3 cup chia seeds
1/3 cup honey
400g can organic lite coconut cream
Blueberries to serve
Method: Place ingredients in a bowl and stir well to combine. Cover and store in the fridge for 4 hours or overnight to thicken. Serve in a glass or small bowl topped with blueberries. Enjoy!

Recently I felt very compelled to write this blog post after being shocked and disappointed at an Instagram photo posted by a well known sport star’s also well known wife. This post is not an attack on the person, who I am sure is a very lovely person, however I did feel I needed to write about the message I felt it sent. Unhealthy body image. Now I know this topic has been overdone, debated far and wide, and everyone has their own opinion, but I think a few truths need to be aired.
In my books it’s LBD out and LBB in! At least that’s what I’m calling a Longline Boyfriend Blazer! A boyfriend style blazer is what every girl needs in their wardrobe stat. I’ve recreated one of my favourite looks using this must have piece above, however this item can be worn day or night, styled with skirts, mini or maxi dresses, dress or denim shorts, and of course any type of denim, trouser, or leather pant. Apart from the relaxed cut, the thing I love most about this style is the length. The length of this blazer falls at your upper thigh which is what most of us ladies feel more comfortable with, meaning you’ll feel so much more confident wearing it too. This is for the days when you feel your outfit needs a pick me up. Throw this style of blazer on and you will feel instantly polished!

My vintage Led Zepplin tee has settled in nicely to my wardrobe and it’s getting a second take this week with boyfriend jeans and leopard print block heels. Keep a look like this feminine by adding layered fine gold jewellery and your favourite clutch. In my books the only thing that would have added to this look would have been a pop of colour like these embroidered clutches from Vilaasi. One of these beauties may have to eventually come home with me…..

As the weather warms and the weekends roll around I look forward to the Saturday morning markets, where I’ll roam each stall and generally find a treasure or two to bring home with me (usually vintage glass or crystal vases!). My go-to outfit is the ease of a relaxed short, simple tee, a strappy but comfortable sandal, and of course a crossbody bag so my hands are free to rummage! I don’t usually stray from my usual black, white, grey and khaki colour scheme, but I love the vintage look of this floral print and I couldn’t resist this mini drawstring bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs that I brought home with me from San Francisco!

My friends know that I’m a bit of a tomboy at heart who loves rock n roll music. As I’ve gotten older I’ve definitely embraced more of my feminine side, my love of fashion and the way I can use fashion to express myself. I still love to tie in edgy pieces to my look but it’s a little more feminine than tomboy these days! I am secretly obsessed with vintage band tees and I could not resist this Led Zeppelin muscle tee from Cotton On. I grew up on Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, 70′s glam rock and Elvis Presley so this tee is definitely a little reflection of me! Throw in this jacket, which is an amazing find from a recent trip to Sydney and feeds my leopard obsession, and my Givenchy love, and for me this look is perfection.
